Introduzione
An-Nisa’ (in arabo: ٱلنساء, An-Nisā che significa: “le donne”) è il quarto capitolo (sūrah) del Corano, con 176 versi (āyāt). Il titolo deriva dai numerosi riferimenti alle donne in tutto il capitolo, tra cui il versetto 34 e i versetti 127-130.
Questa sura medinese mira a proteggere la nascente comunità musulmana delineando un comportamento accettabile per i musulmani (credenti “sottomessi” alla Volontà di DIO) e mostra il ruolo del Corano come fonte legale autoritaria, capace di plasmare la comunità. La sura ha lo scopo di sradicare le precedenti pratiche delle comunità arabe pagane che non sono più considerate morali nella società musulmana. Per esempio, la sezione di questa sura sul trattare equamente le giovani donne orfane (4, 2-4) affronta la pratica araba pre-islamica di sposare le ragazze orfane per prendere le loro proprietà.

| 4:1 | يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَخَلَقَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنْهُمَا رِجَالًا كَثِيرًا وَنِسَاءً ۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ الَّذِي تَسَاءَلُونَ بِهِ وَالْأَرْحَامَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَيْكُمْ رَقِيبًا | Yā ayyuhā an-nāsu ittaqū rabbakumu alladhī khalaqakum min nafsin wāḥidatin wa khalaqa minhā zawjahā wa baththa minhumā rijālan kathīran wa nisāʾā, wa ittaqū Allāha alladhī tasāʾalūna bihi wa al-arḥām, inna Allāha kāna ʿalaykum raqībā | O mankind, be mindful of your Lord, who created you from a single soul and created from it its mate and spread from both many men and women. And be mindful of GOD, through whom you ask one another, and of the womb-relationships. | 4:2 | وَآتُوا الْيَتَامَىٰ أَمْوَالَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تَتَبَدَّلُوا الْخَبِيثَ بِالطَّيِّبِ ۖ وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا أَمْوَالَهُمْ إِلَىٰ أَمْوَالِكُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ حُوبًا كَبِيرًا | Wa ātū al-yatāmā amwālahum, wa lā tatabaddalū al-khabītha bi al-ṭayyib, wa lā taʾkulū amwālahum ilā amwālikum, innahu kāna ḥūban kabīrā | Give the orphans their property, and do not exchange the bad for the good, and do not consume their wealth by adding it to your own. Indeed, that is a great sin. | Date agli orfani i loro beni, non sostituite il cattivo con il buono e non divorate i loro beni aggiungendoli ai vostri. In verità questo è un grande peccato. |
| 4:3 | وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تُقْسِطُوا فِي الْيَتَامَىٰ فَانكِحُوا مَا طَابَ لَكُم مِّنَ النِّسَاءِ مَثْنَىٰ وَثُلَاثَ وَرُبَاعَ ۖ فَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تَعْدِلُوا فَوَاحِدَةً أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰ أَلَّا تَعُولُوا | Wa in khiftum allā tuqsiṭū fī al-yatāmā fa inkiḥū mā ṭāba lakum mina al-nisāʾ mathnā wa thulātha wa rubāʿ, fa in khiftum allā taʿdilū fa wāḥidatan aw mā malakat aymānukum, dhālika adnā allā taʿūlū | If you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphans, then marry such women as seem good to you, two or three or four; but if you fear that you will not be just, then one, or those whom your right hands possess. That is more suitable so that you may not incline to injustice. | E se temete di non essere equi verso gli orfani, allora sposate, tra le donne che vi piacciono, due, tre o quattro; ma se temete di non essere giusti, allora una sola, oppure quelle che la vostra destra possiede. | 4:6 | وَابْتَلُوا الْيَتَامَىٰ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا بَلَغُوا النِّكَاحَ فَإِنْ آنَسْتُم مِّنْهُمْ رُشْدًا فَادْفَعُوا إِلَيْهِمْ أَمْوَالَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تَأْكُلُوهَا إِسْرَافًا وَبِدَارًا أَن يَكْبَرُوا ۚ وَمَن كَانَ غَنِيًّا فَلْيَسْتَعْفِفْ ۖ وَمَن كَانَ فَقِيرًا فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ۚ فَإِذَا دَفَعْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ أَمْوَالَهُمْ فَأَشْهِدُوا عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ حَسِيبًا | Wa ibtalū al-yatāmā ḥattā idhā balaghū an-nikāḥ fa in ānastum minhum rushdan fa-dfaʿū ilayhim amwālahum, wa lā taʾkulūhā isrāfan wa bidāran an yakbarū; wa man kāna ghaniyyan fal-yastaʿfif wa man kāna faqīran fal-yaʾkul bil-maʿrūf; fa idhā dafaʿtum ilayhim amwālahum fa-ashhidū ʿalayhim; wa kafā bi-llāhi ḥasībā | Test the orphans until they reach marriageable age; then if you perceive in them sound judgment, deliver to them their property. Do not consume it wastefully or hastily before they grow up. Whoever is wealthy should refrain, and whoever is poor may take what is reasonable. When you deliver their property to them, call witnesses for them. GOD is sufficient as a Reckoner. | Mettete alla prova gli orfani finché raggiungano l’età del matrimonio; se riconoscete in loro maturità, consegnate loro i beni. | 4:7 | لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدَانِ وَالْأَقْرَبُونَ وَلِلنِّسَاءِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدَانِ وَالْأَقْرَبُونَ مِمَّا قَلَّ مِنْهُ أَوْ كَثُرَ ۚ نَصِيبًا مَّفْرُوضًا | Lil-rijāli naṣībun mimmā taraka al-wālidāni wa al-aqrabūn wa lil-nisāʾi naṣībun mimmā taraka al-wālidāni wa al-aqrabūn mimmā qalla minhu aw kathur naṣīban mafrūḍā | For men is a share of what parents and relatives leave, and for women is a share of what parents and relatives leave, whether it be little or much—a determined share. | Agli uomini spetta una parte di ciò che lasciano i genitori e i parenti, e alle donne spetta una parte di ciò che lasciano i genitori e i parenti, sia poco sia molto: una parte stabilita. |
| 4:8 | وَإِذَا حَضَرَ الْقِسْمَةَ أُولُو الْقُرْبَىٰ وَالْيَتَامَىٰ وَالْمَسَاكِينُ فَارْزُقُوهُم مِّنْهُ وَقُولُوا لَهُمْ قَوْلًا مَّعْرُوفًا | Wa idhā ḥaḍara al-qismata ulū al-qurbā wa al-yatāmā wa al-masākīn fa-rzuqūhum minhu wa qūlū lahum qawlan maʿrūfā | When relatives, orphans, and the needy are present at the division, provide for them from it and speak to them kindly. | Quando alla divisione sono presenti parenti, orfani e poveri, date loro qualcosa da essa e rivolgete loro parole appropriate. |
| 4:9 | وَلْيَخْشَ الَّذِينَ لَوْ تَرَكُوا مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّةً ضِعَافًا خَافُوا عَلَيْهِمْ فَلْيَتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلْيَقُولُوا قَوْلًا سَدِيدًا | Wal-yakhsha alladhīna law tarakū min khalfihim dhurriyyatan ḍiʿāfan khāfū ʿalayhim fal-yattaqū Allāh wa l-yaqūlū qawlan sadīdā | Let those fear who would worry if they left weak offspring behind them; let them be mindful of GOD and speak upright words. | Temano coloro che, se lasciassero dietro di sé una discendenza debole, ne sarebbero preoccupati: temano dunque DIO e dicano parole rette. |
| 4:10 | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَالَ الْيَتَامَىٰ ظُلْمًا إِنَّمَا يَأْكُلُونَ فِي بُطُونِهِمْ نَارًا ۖ وَسَيَصْلَوْنَ سَعِيرًا | Inna alladhīna yaʾkulūna amwāla al-yatāmā ẓulman innamā yaʾkulūna fī buṭūnihim nāran wa sa-yaṣlawna saʿīrā | Indeed those who consume the property of orphans unjustly are only consuming fire into their bellies, and they will burn in a blazing Fire. | In verità coloro che divorano ingiustamente i beni degli orfani non fanno che inghiottire fuoco nei loro ventri e bruceranno in una fiamma ardente. |

| 4:11 | يُوصِيكُمُ اللَّهُ فِي أَوْلَادِكُمْ ۖ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۚ فَإِن كُنَّ نِسَاءً فَوْقَ اثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَ ۖ وَإِن كَانَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَلَهَا النِّصْفُ ۚ وَلِأَبَوَيْهِ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا السُّدُسُ مِمَّا تَرَكَ إِن كَانَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ ۚ فَإِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُ وَلَدٌ وَوَرِثَهُ أَبَوَاهُ فَلِأُمِّهِ الثُّلُثُ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُ إِخْوَةٌ فَلِأُمِّهِ السُّدُسُ ۚ مِن بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصِي بِهَا أَوْ دَيْنٍ ۗ آبَاؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَاؤُكُمْ لَا تَدْرُونَ أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ لَكُمْ نَفْعًا ۚ فَرِيضَةً مِّنَ اللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا | Yūṣīkumu Allāhu fī awlādikum lil-dhakari mithlu ḥaẓẓi al-unthayayni fa in kunna nisāʾan fawqa ithnatayni falahunna thuluthā mā taraka wa in kānat wāḥidatan falahā an-niṣf wa li-abawayhi likulli wāḥidin minhumā as-sudusu mimmā taraka in kāna lahu walad fa in lam yakun lahu walad wa warithahu abawāhu fa li-ummihi ath-thuluth fa in kāna lahu ikhwatun fa li-ummihi as-sudus min baʿdi waṣiyyatin yūṣī bihā aw dayn ābāʾukum wa abnāʾukum lā tadrūna ayyuhum aqrabu lakum nafʿan farīḍatan mina Allāh inna Allāha kāna ʿalīman ḥakīman | GOD instructs you concerning your children: for the male is the portion equal to that of two females. But if there are only daughters, two or more, for them is two-thirds of what he left; if there is only one, for her is half. And for his parents, to each one of them is a sixth of what he left if he had a child. But if he had no child and his parents inherit from him, then for his mother is one-third; but if he had brothers or sisters, for his mother is a sixth, after any bequest he made or debt. Your parents or your children—you do not know which of them are nearest to you in benefit. This is an obligation from GOD. Indeed GOD is All-Knowing, Wise. | DIO vi prescrive riguardo ai vostri figli: al maschio una parte pari a quella di due femmine. Se sono solo figlie, due o più, spetta loro due terzi di ciò che egli lascia; se è una sola, a lei spetta la metà. Ai genitori, a ciascuno di loro, spetta un sesto di ciò che egli lascia se ha figli. Se non ha figli e lo ereditano i genitori, alla madre spetta un terzo; ma se ha fratelli o sorelle, alla madre spetta un sesto, dopo un lascito che egli abbia disposto o un debito. I vostri padri e i vostri figli: non sapete chi di loro vi sia più utile. È una prescrizione da parte di DIO. In verità DIO è sapiente, saggio. |
| 4:12 | وَلَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ أَزْوَاجُكُمْ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُنَّ وَلَدٌ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَلَكُمُ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْنَ مِن بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصِينَ بِهَا أَوْ دَيْنٍ ۚ وَلَهُنَّ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّكُمْ وَلَدٌ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَلَهُنَّ الثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُم مِّن بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ تُوصُونَ بِهَا أَوْ دَيْنٍ ۗ وَإِن كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُورَثُ كَلَالَةً أَوِ امْرَأَةٌ وَلَهُ أَخٌ أَوْ أُخْتٌ فَلِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا السُّدُسُ ۚ فَإِن كَانُوا أَكْثَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ فَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ فِي الثُّلُثِ ۚ مِن بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصَىٰ بِهَا أَوْ دَيْنٍ غَيْرَ مُضَارٍّ ۚ وَصِيَّةً مِّنَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَلِيمٌ | Wa lakum niṣfu mā taraka azwājukum in lam yakun lahunna walad fa in kāna lahunna walad falakumu ar-rubuʿu mimmā tarakna min baʿdi waṣiyyatin yūṣīna bihā aw dayn wa lahunna ar-rubuʿu mimmā taraktum in lam yakun lakum walad fa in kāna lakum walad falahunna ath-thumunu mimmā taraktum min baʿdi waṣiyyatin tūṣūna bihā aw dayn wa in kāna rajulun yūrathu kalālatah aw imraʾatun wa lahu akhun aw ukhtun falikulli wāḥidin minhumā as-sudus fa in kānū akthara min dhālika fahum shurakāʾu fī ath-thuluth min baʿdi waṣiyyatin yūṣā bihā aw dayn ghayra muḍārr waṣiyyatan mina Allāh wa Allāhu ʿalīmun ḥalīm | For you is half of what your wives leave if they have no child. But if they have a child, then for you is a fourth of what they leave after any bequest they made or debt. And for them is a fourth of what you leave if you have no child. But if you have a child, then for them is an eighth of what you leave after any bequest you made or debt. And if a man or a woman leaves neither ascendants nor descendants but has a brother or a sister, then for each one of them is a sixth; but if they are more than two, they share in a third, after any bequest made or debt, without causing harm. This is an instruction from GOD. And GOD is Knowing, Forbearing. | A voi spetta la metà di ciò che lasciano le vostre mogli se non hanno figli; ma se hanno figli, a voi spetta un quarto di ciò che lasciano, dopo un lascito che abbiano disposto o un debito. A loro spetta un quarto di ciò che lasciate se non avete figli; ma se avete figli, a loro spetta un ottavo di ciò che lasciate, dopo un lascito che abbiate disposto o un debito. Se un uomo o una donna non ha né ascendenti né discendenti ma ha un fratello o una sorella, a ciascuno dei due spetta un sesto; se sono più di due, condividono un terzo, dopo un lascito o un debito, senza arrecare danno. È una prescrizione da parte di DIO. DIO è sapiente e indulgente. |

| 4:13 | تِلْكَ حُدُودُ اللَّهِ ۚ وَمَن يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ | Tilka ḥudūdu Allāh wa man yuṭiʿi Allāha wa rasūlahu yudkhilhu jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā al-anhār khālidīna fīhā wa dhālika al-fawzu al-ʿaẓīm | These are the limits set by GOD. Whoever obeys GOD and His Messenger, He will admit him to gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein; and that is the great success. | Questi sono i limiti stabiliti da DIO. Chi obbedisce a DIO e al Suo Messaggero, Egli lo farà entrare in giardini sotto i quali scorrono fiumi, dove dimoreranno per sempre; questo è il grande successo. |
| 4:14 | وَمَن يَعْصِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيَتَعَدَّ حُدُودَهُ يُدْخِلْهُ نَارًا خَالِدًا فِيهَا وَلَهُ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ | Wa man yaʿṣi Allāha wa rasūlahu wa yataʿadda ḥudūdahu yudkhilhu nāran khālidan fīhā wa lahu ʿadhābun muhīn | Whoever disobeys GOD and His Messenger and transgresses His limits, He will admit him to a Fire wherein he will abide, and for him is a humiliating punishment. | Chi disobbedisce a DIO e al Suo Messaggero e oltrepassa i Suoi limiti, Egli lo farà entrare in un fuoco dove rimarrà; per lui vi sarà un castigo umiliante. |
| 4:15 | وَاللَّاتِي يَأْتِينَ الْفَاحِشَةَ مِن نِّسَائِكُمْ فَاسْتَشْهِدُوا عَلَيْهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةً مِّنكُمْ ۖ فَإِن شَهِدُوا فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ فِي الْبُيُوتِ حَتَّىٰ يَتَوَفَّاهُنَّ الْمَوْتُ أَوْ يَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ لَهُنَّ سَبِيلًا | Wa allātī yaʾtīna al-fāḥishata min nisāʾikum fa-stashhidū ʿalayhinna arbaʿatan minkum fa in shahidū fa amsikūhunna fī al-buyūti ḥattā yatawaffāhunna al-mawt aw yajʿala Allāhu lahunna sabīlā | Those of your women who commit indecency—call four witnesses from among you against them; if they testify, confine them to houses until death takes them or GOD makes for them a way. | Quanto alle vostre donne che commettono indecenza, chiamate contro di loro quattro testimoni tra voi; se testimoniano, trattenetele nelle case finché la morte le prenda oppure DIO stabilisca per loro una via. |
| 4:16 | وَاللَّذَانِ يَأْتِيَانِهَا مِنكُمْ فَآذُوهُمَا ۖ فَإِن تَابَا وَأَصْلَحَا فَأَعْرِضُوا عَنْهُمَا ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيمًا | Wa alladhāni yaʾtiyānihā minkum fa-ādhūhumā fa in tābā wa aṣlaḥā fa-aʿriḍū ʿanhumā inna Allāha kāna tawwāban raḥīmā | The two among you who commit it—punish them; but if they repent and reform, leave them alone. GOD is ever Accepting of repentance, Merciful. | E i due tra voi che la commettono, puniteli; ma se si pentono e si correggono, lasciateli stare. In verità DIO è accogliente nel perdono, misericordioso. |
| 4:17 | إِنَّمَا التَّوْبَةُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السُّوءَ بِجَهَالَةٍ ثُمَّ يَتُوبُونَ مِن قَرِيبٍ فَأُولَٰئِكَ يَتُوبُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا | Innamā at-tawbatu ʿalā Allāhi lilladhīna yaʿmalūna as-sūʾa bijahālah thumma yatūbūna min qarīb fa-ulāʾika yatūbu Allāhu ʿalayhim wa kāna Allāhu ʿalīman ḥakīmā | Repentance accepted by GOD is only for those who commit evil in ignorance and then repent soon after; GOD will turn to them in forgiveness. GOD is All-Knowing, Wise. | Il pentimento accettato da DIO è per coloro che compiono il male per ignoranza e poi si pentono presto: su di loro DIO ritorna con perdono. DIO è sapiente, saggio. |

| 4:18 | وَلَيْسَتِ التَّوْبَةُ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السَّيِّئَاتِ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَهُمُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ إِنِّي تُبْتُ الآنَ وَلَا الَّذِينَ يَمُوتُونَ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا | Wa laysati at-tawbatu lilladhīna yaʿmalūna as-sayyiʾāt ḥattā idhā ḥaḍara aḥadahumu al-mawtu qāla innī tubtu al-āna wa lā alladhīna yamūtūna wa hum kuffār ulāʾika aʿtadnā lahum ʿadhāban alīmā | Repentance is not for those who continue doing evil until death comes to one of them and he says, “Indeed, I repent now,” nor for those who die while they are disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful punishment. | Il pentimento non è per coloro che continuano a fare il male finché giunge la morte a uno di loro ed egli dice: «Ora mi pento», né per coloro che muoiono mentre negano la fede. Nor should you treat them harshly in order to take back part of what you have given them, unless they commit a clear indecency. Live with them in kindness. If you dislike them, it may be that you dislike something in which GOD has placed much good. | O voi che credete, non vi è lecito ereditare le donne contro la loro volontà. Non trattatele con durezza per riprendere parte di ciò che avete dato loro, a meno che non abbiano commesso una manifesta indecenza. Vivete con loro secondo il bene riconosciuto. Se le detestate, può darsi che detestiate qualcosa in cui DIO ha posto molto bene. |
| 4:20 | وَإِنْ أَرَدتُّمُ اسْتِبْدَالَ زَوْجٍ مَّكَانَ زَوْجٍ وَآتَيْتُم إِحْدَاهُنَّ قِنطَارًا فَلَا تَأْخُذُوا مِنْهُ شَيْئًا ۚ أَتَأْخُذُونَهُ بُهْتَانًا وَإِثْمًا مُّبِينًا | Wa in aradtumu istibdāla zawjin makāna zawjin wa ātaytum iḥdāhunna qinṭāran fa-lā taʾkhudhū minhu shayʾā atākhudhūnahu buhtānan wa ithman mubīnā | If you wish to replace one wife with another and you have given one of them a great amount, do not take anything back from it. Would you take it through slander and clear sin? | Se desiderate sostituire una moglie con un’altra e avete dato a una di loro anche un grande dono, non riprendete nulla. Lo riprendereste forse con calunnia e peccato evidente? |
| 4:21 | وَكَيْفَ تَأْخُذُونَهُ وَقَدْ أَفْضَىٰ بَعْضُكُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَأَخَذْنَ مِنكُم مِّيثَاقًا غَلِيظًا | Wa kayfa taʾkhudhūnahu wa qad afḍā baʿḍukum ilā baʿḍ wa akhadhna minkum mīthāqan ghalīẓā | How could you take it back when you have gone in unto one another and they have taken from you a solemn covenant? | Come potreste riprenderlo quando vi siete uniti l’uno all’altra ed esse hanno preso da voi un patto solenne? |

This is the decree of GOD upon you. Lawful to you are all beyond these, provided that you seek them with your wealth in lawful marriage, not in fornication. So for whatever you enjoy from them, give them their due compensation as an obligation. There is no blame upon you for what you mutually agree after the obligation. Indeed GOD is All-Knowing, Wise. | E anche le donne sposate vi sono proibite, eccetto quelle che la vostra destra possiede. Questo è il decreto di DIO su di voi. Vi sono lecite tutte le altre, purché le cerchiate con i vostri beni in matrimonio onesto e non in fornicazione. Per ciò di cui godete da parte loro, date loro la loro ricompensa come obbligo. GOD knows best your faith; you are of one another. Marry them with the permission of their families and give them their due dowries according to what is fair, being chaste, not committing fornication nor taking secret lovers. Once they are married, if they commit indecency, they shall have half the punishment of free women. This is for those among you who fear hardship. But if you are patient, it is better for you. GOD is Forgiving, Merciful. | Chi tra voi non ha i mezzi per sposare donne libere credenti, sposi tra le vostre schiave credenti che la vostra destra possiede. DIO conosce meglio la vostra fede; siete gli uni dagli altri. Sposatele con il permesso delle loro famiglie e date loro la loro dote secondo ciò che è giusto, come donne oneste, non dedite alla fornicazione né a relazioni segrete. Una volta sposate, se commettono indecenza, subiranno metà della pena delle donne libere. Questo è per chi tra voi teme la difficoltà. Ma se avete pazienza è meglio per voi. DIO è perdonante, misericordioso. |
| 4:26 | يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَكُمْ وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ سُنَنَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ وَيَتُوبَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ | Yurīdu Allāhu li-yubayyina lakum wa yahdiyakum sunana alladhīna min qablikum wa yatūba ʿalaykum wa Allāhu ʿalīmun ḥakīm | GOD wishes to make clear to you and guide you to the ways of those before you and to turn toward you in forgiveness. | 4:27 | وَاللَّهُ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتُوبَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَيُرِيدُ الَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ الشَّهَوَاتِ أَن تَمِيلُوا مَيْلًا عَظِيمًا | Wa Allāhu yurīdu an yatūba ʿalaykum wa yurīdu alladhīna yattabiʿūna ash-shahawāti an tamīlū maylan ʿaẓīmā | GOD wants to turn toward you in forgiveness, but those who follow desires want you to deviate greatly. | DIO vuole accogliere il vostro pentimento, mentre coloro che seguono le passioni vogliono che deviate profondamente. |

| 4:29 | يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَأْكُلُوا أَمْوَالَكُم بَيْنَكُم بِالْبَاطِلِ إِلَّا أَن تَكُونَ تِجَارَةً عَن تَرَاضٍ مِّنكُمْ ۚ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا أَنفُسَكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًا | Yā ayyuhā alladhīna āmanū lā taʾkulū amwālakum baynakum bil-bāṭil illā an takūna tijāratan ʿan tarāḍin minkum wa lā taqtulū anfusakum inna Allāha kāna bikum raḥīmā | O you who believe, do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly, except through trade by mutual consent. And do not kill yourselves. Indeed GOD is Merciful to you. | O voi che credete, non divorate i vostri beni tra voi con ingiustizia, ma soltanto attraverso un commercio basato sul consenso reciproco. Non uccidete voi stessi. In verità DIO è misericordioso verso di voi. |
| 4:30 | وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ عُدْوَانًا وَظُلْمًا فَسَوْفَ نُصْلِيهِ نَارًا ۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرًا | Wa man yafʿal dhālika ʿudwānan wa ẓulman fa-sawfa nuṣlīhi nāran wa kāna dhālika ʿalā Allāhi yasīrā | Whoever does that in aggression and injustice, We will cast him into the Fire; and that is easy for GOD. | Chi fa ciò con aggressione e ingiustizia, lo faremo entrare nel Fuoco; e ciò è facile per DIO. |

| 4:32 | وَلَا تَتَمَنَّوْا مَا فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۚ لِلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا اكْتَسَبُوا وَلِلنِّسَاءِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا اكْتَسَبْنَ ۚ وَاسْأَلُوا اللَّهَ مِن فَضْلِهِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمًا | Wa lā tatamannaw mā faḍḍala Allāhu bihi baʿḍakum ʿalā baʿḍ lil-rijāli naṣībun mimmā iktasabū wa lil-nisāʾi naṣībun mimmā iktasabna wa isʾalū Allāha min faḍlih inna Allāha kāna bikulli shayʾin ʿalīmā | Do not covet what GOD has given some of you over others. For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned. Ask GOD of His bounty. Indeed GOD has knowledge of all things. | Non desiderate ciò con cui DIO ha favorito alcuni di voi rispetto ad altri. Agli uomini spetta una parte di ciò che hanno guadagnato e alle donne una parte di ciò che hanno guadagnato. Chiedete a DIO della Sua grazia. In verità DIO conosce ogni cosa. |
| 4:33 | وَلِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مَوَالِيَ مِمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدَانِ وَالْأَقْرَبُونَ ۚ وَالَّذِينَ عَقَدَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ فَآتُوهُمْ نَصِيبَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدًا | Wa likullin jaʿalnā mawāliya mimmā taraka al-wālidāni wa al-aqrabūn wa alladhīna ʿaqadat aymānukum fa-ātūhum naṣībahum inna Allāha kāna ʿalā kulli shayʾin shahīdā | For everyone We have appointed heirs to what parents and relatives leave. And to those with whom your right hands have made a pact, give them their share. Indeed GOD is Witness over all things. | A ciascuno abbiamo stabilito eredi per ciò che lasciano i genitori e i parenti. E a coloro con cui le vostre destre hanno stretto un patto, date la loro parte. In verità DIO è testimone su ogni cosa. |

| 4:34 | الرِّجَالُ قَوَّامُونَ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ بِمَا فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَبِمَا أَنفَقُوا مِنْ أَمْوَالِهِمْ ۚ فَالصَّالِحَاتُ قَانِتَاتٌ حَافِظَاتٌ لِّلْغَيْبِ بِمَا حَفِظَ اللَّهُ ۚ وَاللَّاتِي تَخَافُونَ نُشُوزَهُنَّ فَعِظُوهُنَّ وَاهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِي الْمَضَاجِعِ وَاضْرِبُوهُنَّ ۖ فَإِنْ أَطَعْنَكُمْ فَلَا تَبْغُوا عَلَيْهِنَّ سَبِيلًا ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيًّا كَبِيرًا | Ar-rijālu qawwāmūna ʿalā an-nisāʾi bimā faḍḍala Allāhu baʿḍahum ʿalā baʿḍin wa bimā anfaqū min amwālihim fa aṣ-ṣāliḥātu qānitātun ḥāfiẓātun lil-ghaybi bimā ḥafiẓa Allāh wa allātī takhāfūna nushūzahunna faʿiẓūhunna wa-hjurūhunna fī al-maḍājiʿ wa-iḍribūhunna fa in aṭaʿnakum fa-lā tabghū ʿalayhinna sabīlā inna Allāha kāna ʿaliyyan kabīrā | Men are caretakers of women by what GOD has given some over others and by what they spend of their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in the unseen what GOD has guarded. As for those from whom you fear rebellion, admonish them, leave them in their beds, and strike them. But if they obey you, seek no way against them. Indeed GOD is Most High, Great. | Gli uomini sono responsabili delle donne per ciò con cui DIO ha favorito alcuni rispetto ad altri e per ciò che spendono dei loro beni. Le donne rette sono devote e custodiscono nell’assenza ciò che DIO ha custodito. Quanto a quelle di cui temete la ribellione, ammonitele, allontanatevi da loro nei letti e colpitele. Ma se vi obbediscono, non cercate contro di loro alcuna via. In verità DIO è altissimo, grande. |
Versetti 35-36

If they both desire reconciliation, GOD will bring harmony between them. Show kindness to parents, relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the distant neighbor, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. If they had said, “We hear and obey,” and “Hear,” and “Look upon us,” it would have been better for them and more upright. But GOD has cursed them for their disbelief, so they believe only a little. | Tra coloro che sono giudei vi sono quelli che distorcono le parole dal loro posto e dicono: «Abbiamo ascoltato e abbiamo disobbedito», e «Ascolta senza essere ascoltato», e «Rāʿinā», torcendo le loro lingue e insultando la religione. Nella tradizione musulmana si ritiene che questo versetto sia stato rivelato in una fase intermedia prima della proibizione totale del consumo di bevande alcoliche. Eppure mai si legge un divieto assoluto seppure i versetti 90-91 della sura 5 ne affermino l’associazione al male. Il Corano si può interpretare come un Libro molto moderato, dipende dallo Spirito che lo legge.
«impurità»: lo stato di janaba («junub»), consiste solitamente ad un’impurità conseguente al rapporto sessuale, alla vicinanza con la mestruazione femminile. Solitamente questa condizione, oltre ad impedire l’assolvimento della preghiera, non permette il contatto con una copia del Corano, e il trattenersi nella moschea.
«tayammum» è permessa in mancanza di acqua o nel caso in cui sia sconsigliato servirsene per motivi di salute o impurità dell’acqua. Consiste nel battere le mani sulla terra (roccia, sabbia ecc.) scuoterle e passarle sul viso e sulle braccia.
Alcuni finti fedeli e seguaci di Mohammed (identificati solitamente come ebrei) erano soliti dire al Messaggero quando recitava il Corano “Ra’ina” che significa leggere lentamente, in modo da capire meglio ciò che il Messaggero recitava. Ma questi ebrei di Madinah usavano lo stesso termine rivolgendosi al profeta fingendo di voler dire “dacci la tua attenzione” distorcendo il modo in cui pronunciavano la parola per farla sembrare “Ru’na” (deriva dalla parola “Ra’inu” che significa “vizioso” in ebraico). DIO Onnipotente mise in guardia il profeta e i credenti contro questo proibendo loro di usare questa parola nel rivolgersi a Mohammed e ordinò loro di usare invece il termine “Unthurna” (guardaci).

| 4:57 | وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا ۖ لَّهُمْ فِيهَا أَزْوَاجٌ مُّطَهَّرَةٌ وَنُدْخِلُهُمْ ظِلًّا ظَلِيلًا | Wa alladhīna āmanū wa ʿamilū aṣ-ṣāliḥāti sanudkhiluhum jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā al-anhāru khālidīna fīhā abadan lahum fīhā azwājun muṭahharatun wa nudkhiluhum ẓillan ẓalīlā | But those who believe and do righteous deeds—We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide forever. For them therein are purified spouses, and We will admit them to deepening shade. | Coloro che credono e compiono il bene li faremo entrare in giardini sotto i quali scorrono i fiumi, dove rimarranno in eterno. Avranno compagni purificati e li introdurremo in un’ombra estesa. |
| 4:58 | إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تُؤَدُّوا الْأَمَانَاتِ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهَا وَإِذَا حَكَمْتُم بَيْنَ النَّاسِ أَن تَحْكُمُوا بِالْعَدْلِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ نِعِمَّا يَعِظُكُم بِهِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ سَمِيعًا بَصِيرًا | Inna Allāha yaʾmurukum an tuʾaddū al-amānāti ilā ahlihā wa idhā ḥakamtum bayna an-nāsi an taḥkumū bi al-ʿadli inna Allāha niʿimmā yaʿiẓukum bihi inna Allāha kāna samīʿan baṣīrā | Indeed, GOD commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice. Indeed, GOD admonishes you with what is excellent. Indeed, GOD is ever Hearing and Seeing. | In verità DIO vi ordina di restituire i depositi ai loro proprietari e, quando giudicate tra gli uomini, di giudicare con giustizia. Quanto eccellente è ciò a cui DIO vi esorta. In verità DIO è ascoltante, osservatore. |
| 4:59 | يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ ۖ فَإِن تَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي شَيْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ إِن كُنتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلًا | Yā ayyuhā alladhīna āmanū aṭīʿū Allāha wa aṭīʿū ar-rasūla wa ulī al-amri minkum fa in tanāzaʿtum fī shayʾin faruddūhu ilā Allāhi wa ar-rasūli in kuntum tuʾminūna bi-llāhi wa al-yawmi al-ākhiri dhālika khayrun wa aḥsanu taʾwīlā | O you who believe, obey GOD and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to GOD and the Messenger, if you should believe in GOD and the Last Day. That is the best way and best in result. | O voi che credete, obbedite a DIO, obbedite al Messaggero e a coloro che detengono l’autorità tra voi. Se siete in disaccordo su qualcosa, riportatelo a DIO e al Messaggero, se credete in DIO e nell’Ultimo Giorno. Questo è meglio e conduce al miglior esito. |
| 4:60 | أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّهُمْ آمَنُوا بِمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَتَحَاكَمُوا إِلَى الطَّاغُوتِ وَقَدْ أُمِرُوا أَن يَكْفُرُوا بِهِ وَيُرِيدُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَن يُضِلَّهُمْ ضَلَالًا بَعِيدًا | Alam tara ilā alladhīna yazʿumūna annahum āmanū bimā unzila ilayka wa mā unzila min qablika yurīdūna an yataḥākamū ilā aṭ-ṭāghūt wa qad umirū an yakfurū bihi wa yurīdu ash-shayṭānu an yuḍillahum ḍalālan baʿīdā | Have you not seen those who claim to believe in what was revealed to you and what was revealed before you? They wish to refer judgment to false deities while they were commanded to reject them; and Satan wishes to lead them far astray. | Non hai visto coloro che pretendono di credere in ciò che è stato fatto scendere su di te e prima di te? Vogliono ricorrere al giudizio del tiranno, mentre era stato loro ordinato di rifiutarlo. Ma Satana vuole condurli lontano nello smarrimento. |
| 4:61 | وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا إِلَىٰ مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ وَإِلَى الرَّسُولِ رَأَيْتَ الْمُنَافِقِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَنكَ صُدُودًا | Wa idhā qīla lahum taʿālaw ilā mā anzala Allāhu wa ilā ar-rasūli raʾayta al-munāfiqīna yaṣuddūna ʿanka ṣudūdā | And when it is said to them, “Come to what GOD has revealed and to the Messenger,” you see the hypocrites turning away from you in aversion. | E quando viene detto loro: “Venite a ciò che DIO ha fatto scendere e al Messaggero”, vedi gli ipocriti allontanarsi da te con avversione. |
| 4:62 | فَكَيْفَ إِذَا أَصَابَتْهُم مُّصِيبَةٌ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ ثُمَّ جَاءُوكَ يَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّهِ إِنْ أَرَدْنَا إِلَّا إِحْسَانًا وَتَوْفِيقًا | Fa kayfa idhā aṣābat-hum muṣībatun bimā qaddamat aydīhim thumma jāʾūka yaḥlifūna bi-llāhi in aradnā illā iḥsānan wa tawfīqā | So how will it be when disaster strikes them because of what their hands have put forth, then they come to you swearing by GOD, “We intended nothing but good conduct and accommodation”? | Come sarà quando una disgrazia li colpirà per ciò che le loro mani hanno commesso, e poi verranno da te giurando per DIO: “Non volevamo altro che il bene e la conciliazione”? |
| 4:63 | أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ يَعْلَمُ اللَّهُ مَا فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَعِظْهُمْ وَقُل لَّهُمْ فِي أَنفُسِهِمْ قَوْلًا بَلِيغًا | Ulāʾika alladhīna yaʿlamu Allāhu mā fī qulūbihim fa aʿriḍ ʿanhum wa ʿiẓhum wa qul lahum fī anfusihim qawlan balīghā | Those are the ones of whom GOD knows what is in their hearts, so turn away from them but admonish them and speak to them a far-reaching word about themselves. | Quelli sono coloro di cui DIO conosce ciò che è nei loro cuori: allontanati da loro, ammoniscili e parla loro con parole penetranti riguardo a loro stessi. |
| 4:64 | وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا لِيُطَاعَ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ ۚ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذ ظَّلَمُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ جَاءُوكَ فَاسْتَغْفَرُوا اللَّهَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ الرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُوا اللَّهَ تَوَّابًا رَّحِيمًا | Wa mā arsalnā min rasūlin illā li-yuṭāʿa bi-idhni Allāhi wa law annahum idh ẓalamū anfusahum jāʾūka fa-staghfarū Allāha wa istaghfara lahumu ar-rasūlu la-wajadū Allāha tawwāban raḥīmā | And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by permission of GOD. And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you and asked forgiveness of GOD and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found GOD Accepting of repentance and Merciful. | Non abbiamo inviato alcun messaggero se non perché fosse obbedito con il permesso di DIO. Se, quando hanno fatto torto a sé stessi, fossero venuti da te e avessero chiesto perdono a DIO, e il Messaggero avesse chiesto perdono per loro, avrebbero trovato DIO accogliente al pentimento e misericordioso. |
| 4:65 | فَلَا وَرَبِّكَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ حَتَّىٰ يُحَكِّمُوكَ فِيمَا شَجَرَ بَيْنَهُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُوا فِي أَنفُسِهِمْ حَرَجًا مِّمَّا قَضَيْتَ وَيُسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا | Fa-lā wa rabbika lā yuʾminūna ḥattā yuḥakkimūka fīmā shajara baynahum thumma lā yajidū fī anfusihim ḥarajan mimmā qaḍayta wa yusallimū taslīmā | But no, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in full submission. | No, per il tuo SIGNORE, non crederanno finché non ti prenderanno come giudice nelle loro dispute, e poi non troveranno in sé stessi alcun disagio per ciò che hai deciso, ma si sottometteranno pienamente. |

Ma se avessero fatto ciò a cui erano esortati, sarebbe stato meglio per loro e li avrebbe resi più saldi. | Se avessimo imposto loro: “Uccidete voi stessi” oppure “Lasciate le vostre dimore”, non lo avrebbero fatto se non pochi tra loro. Ma se avessero messo in pratica ciò a cui erano ammoniti, sarebbe stato meglio per loro e avrebbe rafforzato la loro fermezza. |

Ma quando fu loro prescritto il combattimento, ecco che una parte di loro temeva gli uomini come si teme DIO, o anche di più, e dissero: “Signore nostro, perché ci hai prescritto il combattimento? Perché non lo hai rinviato a un termine vicino?” Di’: “Il godimento di questa vita è poco, mentre l’Aldilà è migliore per chi è timorato; e non sarete lesi neppure di un filo”. | Non hai visto coloro ai quali fu detto: “Trattenete le vostre mani, stabilite la preghiera e date la zakāt”? Ma quando fu loro prescritto il combattimento, una parte di loro temeva gli uomini come si teme DIO, o anche con timore maggiore, e disse: “Signore nostro, perché ci hai prescritto il combattimento? Perché non lo hai rinviato a breve termine?” Di’: “Il godimento di questa vita è poca cosa, mentre l’Aldilà è migliore per chi è consapevole. E non sarete lesi neppure nella minima misura”. |
| 4:78 | أَيْنَمَا تَكُونُوا يُدْرِككُّمُ الْمَوْتُ وَلَوْ كُنتُمْ فِي بُرُوجٍ مُّشَيَّدَةٍ ۗ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ حَسَنَةٌ يَقُولُوا هَٰذِهِ مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ ۖ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ يَقُولُوا هَٰذِهِ مِنْ عِندِكَ قُلْ كُلٌّ مِّنْ عِندِ اللَّهِ ۖ فَمَالِ هَٰذِهِ الْقَوْمِ لَا يَكَادُونَ يَفْقَهُونَ حَدِيثًا | Aynamā takūnū yudrikkumu al-mawtu wa law kuntum fī burūjin mushayyadah wa in tuṣib-hum ḥasanatun yaqūlū hādhihi min ʿindi Allāh wa in tuṣib-hum sayyiʾatun yaqūlū hādhihi min ʿindik qul kullun min ʿindi Allāh fa mā li-hāʾulāʾi al-qawmi lā yakādūna yafqahūna ḥadīthā | Dovunque vi troviate, la morte vi raggiungerà, anche se foste in torri fortificate. Se li colpisce un bene, dicono: “Questo viene da DIO”; ma se li colpisce un male, dicono: “Questo viene da te”. Di’: “Tutto viene da DIO”. Che cosa hanno questi uomini, che a stento comprendono un discorso? | Dovunque vi troviate, la morte vi raggiungerà, anche se foste in torri fortificate. Che cosa ha questo popolo, che a malapena comprende ciò che gli viene detto? |

Nella tradizione dell’Islam qualcuno ritiene che sia stata solo apparente la morte del Messia in croce, eppure si potrebbe anche interpretare che data l’immortalità dell’Anima dei giusti, i credenti sanno che DIO ha salvato attraverso la morte della carne di Gesù, facendo però reincarnare il suo Spirito.

Questa era una giusta accusa contro tutti quei cristiani che consideravano letteralmente la Trinità come tre entità separate. DIO è unico, e Gesù come Suo figlio non significa che fa parte del Creatore, ma solo che ne contiene lo Spirito (come tutti i credenti, come spiegato in Genesi 2, 7)
